A team led by the Executive Director of the Royal Society for Protection of Nature (RSPN) made a courtesy visit to Dasho Dzongdag and relevant sector heads on October 4, 2021.

The objective of the visit was to solicit support and collaboration on implementing the new projects in Zhemgang Dzongkhag. RSPN will be implementing the Project on “Develop Ecosystem-based solutions for Managing Biodiversity Landscapes along Punatsangchhu and Mangdechhu river basins in Bhutan”, funded by the Federal Ministry of Environment Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (#BMU) through International Climate Initiative (#IKI). The major components of the project include incentive-based climate smart agriculture, ecotourism for livelihood enhancement and White-bellied habitat conservation.

Additionally, RSPN will be implementing a project on “Increasing Climate resilience especially of women farmers through Agroecological farming, provision of farm tools and developing market linkages” in Bardo Gewog under Zhemgang Dzongkhag, funded by Canadian Fund for Local Initiative (#CFLI). Main aspects of the project are gender and climate-responsive sustainable agriculture, small scale water conservation and promotion of market linkages.

Dasho Dzongda and the Sector Heads well received the upcoming projects and assured commitment in providing technical backstopping and implement the project, collaboratively. Likewise, RSPN also committed to collaborate with the Dzongkhag in successfully mobilizing the funds and implement the projects.
